Bill Baird is an Oakland, CA-based multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and multimedia artist. An incredibly prolific musician, he has released an enornmous volume of work under several different monikers over the past 20 years. Bill will be touring in support of his newest work, Owl, a hybrid multi-media project encompassing an album-length video, a traveling projection-mapped cube, and an album of original music -- two side length pieces inspired by Conny Plank, Teo Macero, Italian Futurism, Stereolab, Madlib and released by Dangerbird Records as part of the 'Arthur King Presents' series.
Under the name Gardener, Richmond, VA-based Dash Lewis uses a modular synthesizer, effects pedals, and his own voice to create intricately layered, rhythmically complex slabs of trance-inducing psychedelia, weaving looped vocal passages into thick, textured drones. Deeply influenced by German kosmiche music of the 1970s, mid-career Beach Boys, and spiritual jazz, Lewis’s interest lies in the organic interplay between electronics and the human voice. With Gardener, he works to meld seemingly disparate elements into a single instrument.
